One of the Soviet T-34 tanks in the Valley of Death

Udolie smrti, or „Valley of Death“ is a kind of open-air museum reminding of the largest tank battle that took place on the Czechoslovak soil during the WW II. This military landmark, which is a rarity of its kind in Slovakia represents tank squadron in attack. It is a very strange experience and I warmly recommend it to everyone...you enter the quiet valley, come to the first village, Kapisova, proceed further...and here and there, there are T-34 tanks on the hills and fields, looking like they must have looked in 1944...only the nature cannot be stopped, the tanks are surrounded by quiet greenery and local villagers work in the fields...

This valley is located near the town of Svidnik, and three little villages lie here. Between them, there are T-34 Soviet tanks placed on the fields. This tank battle happened here in 1944, after the Soviet troops crossed our state border in the Dukla Pass. More about the Dukla Pass Batlle read at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Dukla_Pass.

The road through this valley takes some 40 minutes by foot, and only few minutes by car...

I remember this place where i have already been. This is an impressive perspective and the recent actuality give an other dimension;
Well done

Hola Ivana.

A+

An open space museum. A very nice composition... great colors, beautiful sky. I liked it a lot.

I sugest this experiment with a tripod: The same composition but using the shutter with a lower speed... just to give movement to the sky and blur the grass a bit. It's just an experiment... I don't know if the result would be better.

Congratulations

Hi Ivana.
A beautifully composed shot, which makes a telling juxtaposition of the army tank and the delicate white flowers. The broken wire fence is a grim reminder, too. Superb viewpoint and wonderful exposure that gives us rich colours and great sky, while allowing the light and shadow to play its part on the tank itself. Thanks for the interesting note. Nature, if left to itself, would one day erode these metal beasts until there was nothing left. But perhaps humans will be long gone by then.
Regards,
Andrew

hi Ivana,
absolutelly surreal photo, I don't think there's a bigger contrast than the one you have here - the tank and the delicate wild flowers, I definitely like that. the low point of view works well to emphasise the menacing tank against the blue sky. very well seen and presented.

best,
Kristine

Ciao Ivana,
this photo and this note are very interesting.
I see it and now I want go to visit this place.
Complimente for the photo.

CeccoPhoto!!

Hi, Ivana. Your low POV allows the tank to stand out well against the sky and the fence on the right is a good lead into the image. I like to see how nature finally gets over it. There are good contrasts in the image too.
Have a nice evening,
Philippe
