[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Wat Xieng Thong, a Buddhist temple in Luang Prabang, built in 1560. The picture was taken in 1973 but this is probably one of the few buildings in the city that haven't changed at all since then.

PS Looking at more recent pictures of this temple on TE I get a feeling that the colours have faded considerably since 1973.

Hello Gert,
the red colour of the temple in the picture thumbnial attracted my attention in the gallery. Despite the fact that the photo was taken so long ago it looks great (I mean the scanned slide).
I like the rich well-saturated colours and the composition. Unlike what "mikolaj" said, I have an impression that the photo is "weighty" and "solid", if you see what I mean. (For comparison: some photos are of such colours - pastel or simply faint colours - that it seems they float in the air.)
The sky is blue with clouds, which is a plus :)
best regards, and have a nice day!
Elena

Hi Gert,
I also posted the photo of this wonderful small temple, very similar. It is strange. The red colour became pink but these lotus flowers are now vivid turcoise. Splendid Lao architecture. Very good quality of this old photo. Good scanner.

Malgorzata

Hello Gert, Another excellent example of your reproductions, the colours are strong & the detail is good. It is good to hear that it has not changed except for the colours fading. Another interesting shot. Well done.
Regards
Santo

Hej Gert
It is really interesting to compare this photo with some other here on TE of the same building. This is by far the best photo, and then I mean "technically", an outstanding composition, no disturbing shadows and so on. But the other have received more points, something I cannot understand!
