As for the photograph: it is a very typical scene. The rickshaw drivers are waiting for customers and are trying to keep themselves busy. Note the dirt road (and I mean DIRT road too). Too bad it is a scan because of lack of sharpness, although composition is very good.

Hi Jan,
Pretty good resolution considering it is a scanned film. Since this is an old photo, I wonder if a sepia would be a better format as it is more forgiving to noise which is inherent to scanning. But overall, a very good capture of a daily life scene. Well done ... TFS.

Joli cliché de cette scène de rue bien cadrée et qui reflète tout l'atmosphère qui se dégage. Celà me rappelle de bons souvenirs lorsque j'ai eu l'occasion d'utiliser ces véhicules dans plusieurs pays d'Asie, notamment l'Inde et le Vietnam.

Typical scanned work that by the processing of the old photo includes the 'old photo effect' as we see them in old slides. Good daily life shot Jan of this place back in 88. Good details in this compo, well worth to take care of..

Ale klimat, pojazdy fantastyczne. Widac, ze technika dotarla bo juz na silnik a nie pedalowane ;-). Pomijam jakosc, bo wartosc zdjecia niezaprzeczalna.

miodzio...wkurzaja mnie teksty w stylu "typowa scenka..." itd. tak jakby kazdy z nas conajmniej 5 razy w roku zaglądał do wietnamu i psyrykał sobie 2670 zdjęć z "typowymi scenkami"... a ja właśnie sądzę, że scenka nie jest typowa, kolesie mają super nietypowe pojazdy, zajebiście nietypowe kolorowa miami-vice koszule, a rzecz cała dzieje się na ultra nietypowej bezasfaltowej ulicy...typowe...
no i rzeczywiście szkoda ze skan, nie mogles zabrac ze soba canona 5d z pelnowymioarowa klatka, jakims kultowym szklem, zapisac zdjecie w raw'ie i jeszcze podrasowac?...ach, qrwa, byłbym przegapił. przecież to 1988 rok, przeciez to slajd orwo...no baran ze mnie...

The sharpness is not perfect because of the scann. But the scene is interesting with these strange locals transports.

I went in laos in 89, then in 92. It changed a bit between the two but it was still very quiet compared to Vietnam where pollution and noise started to invade Saigon in a big way. I'll be in Vietnam again this spring. I guess now it is cars all over the place and bicycle ricshaws do not have much left for them. Great old fashioned shot keeping trace of life as it was by then.
